Story from the Biomimicry Institute and about their new certification program.

Marie Zanowick had waited 25 years for biomimicry. From an early age, she knew she would dedicate her life to caring for the planet. She studied biology, public health, and civil engineering, and joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. While fulfilled by her work, the slow pace of change within public service proved frustrating. In 2008 Marie learned about our biomimicry training course, and convinced her team at the EPA that its scientific approach to sustainability could transform the way they approached environmental protection. With the support of the EPA, Marie joined the first cohort of the Biomimicry Professional Certification Program (BProfessional), our two-year master’s level biomimicry practitioner’s course. The course changed her life, and re-charged Marie’s career at the EPA.

Since she graduated in 2010, Marie has worked with the EPA to:

Host a six-month biomimicry workshop and design challenge for local, state, and federal government employees.
